Risk Assessment 

27/01/2014
Today we thoroughly discussed and read through the chosen script. The script we chose was the romantic genre story about a 'Secret Santa' and we are all happy with this decision and we think that we can all make a successful product. We managed to write up the problems and see what methods we could do to overcome them, such as with the actors/actresses, mise-en-scene and locations. We have decided that our main problem is the main actresses for the two main characters as we will need to find people who will be able to fit the role well, and also has the spare time. We have briefly discussed the shots for some scenes and we will begin working on the storyboards/shot list tomorrow.

Today we began by working on the shot lists. We managed to complete this for scenes 1 and 2, and also have a brief look over the other scenes. To save time, we then decided to begin working on the storyboards. We assigned one scene to each member in the group, and then we began to work out the look of the scene individually. Tomorrow, we will feedback what we have currently done and discuss any improvements.

We are now successfully completing our pre-production paperwork and we have also decided to take any work home that needs to be completed. We have discussed and we have decided that we are ready for filming on Monday, and we have completed the production schedule accordingly.

03/02/2014
Today we found out that we still needed to sort out the props and other pre-production to be more organised. While Jack and I stayed to complete the props list, Kirk and Matt went to 2 locations, that being the cafe and the British Heart Foundation. While they completed location recces, releases and talent forms, Jack and I completed the props list. We are now much more organised and we can hopefully begin shooting tomorrow.

We began filming to the two most important scenes as these are in locations outside of college, that being in a cafe and the British Heart Foundation. We managed to complete the scene in the BHF however we feel that the lighting and sound in the cafe may be an issue, so we plan to go back either today or as soon as possible to complete the filming outside of college. We also decided, while in the cafe, that instead of having one of the waitresses appear in the short, we will just use one of our team members- that way, they'll be more reliable. I am so far happy with the progress of the shooting, and we have already begun a little editing too.

Today, we mainly continued filming the scenes taking place outside of college. Since we completed filming the BHF scene, we moved on to completing the cafe scene. We managed to do this, however when returning back to editing to check the footage, we decided that we should go back to film more cutaways and they are needed. Shooting is still going successfully however I am personally still unsure whether we will finish filming on schedule.

Today we shot most a locker scene which overall went well, however in my opinion I believe it could have gone better. There are therefore a couple of shoots we will need to re film tomorrow. We need to re shoot them mainly because they're out of focus.

Today we decided to film the second locker scene and his involved changing the script around slightly because of actors being unavailable. We managed to finish filming this scene while also getting some cutaway shots. When going back to editing we found that we weren't happy with the a scene we filmed before half-term, therefore we discussed ideas on how to re-shoot it and make the shots steadier. We plan to start editing together the final rough cut to see what is missing.

Up till now we have been getting as much editing as possible complete, such as the rough cut and the music, as we still have one more scene to film. We were going to film yesterday, but with the lack of members in our team being present, we felt that we should wait. Over the last week or so I have personally took on the challenge of editing the title where I have been experimenting with Adobe After Effects, which is now complete. We have got a rough cut of our short up until the last scene, which is the cinema scene, and we have also been searching around for music which is copyright free and will fit our piece. So far, our short has been going successfully however I feel that some parts will either need to re-short or edited differently in order to make it look more effective.

Up till now we have been editing, making titles, adding music and trying our best to finish of the piece before the deadline. Today we managed to finish completely.
